Read the blog now: You should follow these rules if you have broken a tooth. We also explain the best way to replace a missing tooth.
What to do if a tooth is broken?
Look for the broken tooth and handle it with care.
You should
- only touch the tooth at the crown,
- do not clean it, even if it is dirty and
- visit us as soon as possible.
Especially important: make sure that it does not dry out!
If the cells on the root surface die, the tooth may not heal properly. It is best to place it in a tooth rescue box immediately.
Tooth rescue box: How does it help and where can you get it?
A tooth rescue box is practical and worthwhile for every household. They are available in every pharmacy
- Costs: approx. 15-20 €
- Keeps for three years at room temperature
- Recommended for families with children
If you place the tooth in the tooth rescue box within 5-20 minutes, the chances of it healing are particularly good. The nutrient solution keeps it intact for up to 48 hours.
It is also possible to place the tooth in some saliva, an isotonic saline solution or UHT milk. However, these are only emergency solutions if you do not have a tooth rescue box to hand.
How we replace a broken piece of tooth
Especially in the visible area of the dentition, not only practical but above all aesthetic solutions are required. With high-quality crowns, bridges and dentures, we replace the tooth so that no one notices the difference.
We help you by
- Reattach tooth fragments with a special resin,
- replace the tooth with a bonded plastic abutment or
- reinsert the knocked-out tooth
However, the tooth should be in good condition. The better its condition, the better the chances of it being restored after the dental accident.
For tooth loss: dentures make all the difference
If the tooth is completely missing, implants offer a promising solution for closing the gap. The artificial tooth root replaces the tooth in the jawbone and provides secure support for crowns and bridges in the dentition. We have relied on titanium as a material for years, as the risks of complications and allergic reactions are particularly low with titanium.
“Anyone who has had a dental accident wants a quick and good solution. Because let’s be honest: nobody likes going to work with a gap in their teeth. Under optimal conditions, even individual gaps can be closed relatively easily with dental implants.”
