Your path to fixed dentures with implants in Vienna

A missing tooth or a large gap between teeth can affect your entire life. Feeling insecure when laughing, problems chewing solid foods and the feeling of looking older than you are – many of our patients are familiar with these concerns. Conventional bridges require the grinding of healthy neighboring teeth, removable dentures often do not fit tightly and can cause pressure points. In addition, the jawbone continuously recedes without load, which can lead to further complications.

Dental implants made of titanium or ceramic are the modern answer to these challenges. They replace the natural tooth root, are firmly anchored in the jaw and do not place any strain on healthy teeth. The implant fuses with the bone within a few months, providing a stable base for crowns or bridges. In our practice in Vienna, we use navigated implantology and 3D planning for maximum precision. The result: a dental prosthesis that looks, feels and functions like your natural teeth.

Interesting facts about dental implants

Find out how implants work, how much they cost and whether the treatment is suitable for you.

What exactly are dental implants and how do they work?

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium or ceramic that are surgically inserted directly into the jawbone. After a healing phase of three to six months, the implant grows firmly into the bone. The visible denture - a crown, bridge or prosthesis - is then attached to this stable base. The result is a fully-fledged dental prosthesis that is virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth in terms of appearance and function.

How long do dental implants last and how much does the treatment cost?

With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, implants often last a lifetime. Studies show success rates of over 95 percent after ten years. The costs vary depending on the number of implants, material and required bone augmentation. A single implant in Vienna costs on average between 2,000 and 3,500 euros including the crown. Private health insurance companies often cover part of the costs, and we also offer payment in installments.

Is the implantation painful and how long does it take to heal?

You will not feel anything during the implantation itself due to the local anesthetic. In the first few days after the procedure, you may experience slight swelling or a feeling of pressure, comparable to a tooth extraction. This discomfort can be easily controlled with painkillers. The healing phase takes around three months in the lower jaw and four to six months in the upper jaw. During this time, you can already wear a temporary denture.

Am I suitable for dental implants or are there reasons for exclusion?

Most people are suitable for implants. Sufficient jaw bone is important. If this is missing, we can restore it through bone augmentation. Implantation is also usually possible in cases of diabetes, osteoporosis or after smoking cessation, but requires special care. First, a thorough examination is carried out with X-rays and sometimes a 3D scan of the jaw to assess your individual situation.

Why dental implants are the best choice

Implants offer numerous advantages over conventional dentures and bridges. Find out why many patients opt for this high-quality solution.

Natural appearance and chewing sensation

Implants look and feel like your own teeth. You chew, speak and laugh completely naturally - no one will be able to tell the difference to your natural teeth.

Preservation of the jawbone

The implant stimulates the jawbone like a natural tooth root through the load when chewing. This preserves the bone structure and prevents the typical bone loss associated with tooth loss.

Firm hold without slipping

The implant is firmly anchored in the jaw - there is no wobbling, slipping or pressure points as with removable dentures. You enjoy absolute security when eating, speaking and laughing.

Durability and economy

With good care, implants often last a lifetime. The initial investment pays off in terms of durability - an economical decision compared to the repeated replacement of conventional solutions.

More quality of life in everyday life

Bite down hard again, laugh carefree and appear self-confident. Dental implants give you back a bit of quality of life and strengthen your self-confidence in your private and professional life.

What do
dental implants cost in Vienna?

The cost of dental implants in Vienna varies depending on the individual situation and the chosen treatment. It is therefore difficult to give a general price, as each treatment is customized. Nevertheless, we would like to give you a transparent overview so that you can make a well-informed decision.

A single dental implant including implant, abutment and crown costs between 2,000 and 3,500 euros on average in Vienna. This price includes the surgical implantation, the high-quality titanium or ceramic implant and the custom-made ceramic crown. For more extensive restorations, such as attaching a bridge to several implants or an All-on-4 restoration for an edentulous jaw, the costs depend on the number of implants required and the extent of the prosthetic work.

The total cost is made up of several components: the implant itself, the surgical procedure, any necessary bone augmentation, the fabrication of the prosthesis (crown, bridge or denture) as well as digital planning and aftercare. If bone augmentation is required in the upper or lower jaw prior to implantation, additional costs will be incurred. The choice of material also influences the price.

After a thorough examination with X-rays and a 3D scan, we will draw up an individual treatment plan with a transparent cost breakdown in a detailed consultation. This means you know from the outset what investment you will be making and can weigh up the options at your leisure.

We understand that dental implants are an investment. That’s why we offer you the option of paying in installments. Together we will find a solution that fits your budget so that financial aspects do not get in the way. Contact us and we will be happy to advise you on the various financing options.
Private health insurance companies in Austria often cover part of the cost of dental implants, depending on the tariff you choose. Reimbursement varies greatly, with some insurers covering up to 80 percent of the treatment costs, while others grant fixed allowances. We recommend that you submit a cost estimate to your insurance company before starting treatment. We will be happy to assist you with all the necessary documents and are available to answer any questions you may have. In Austria, statutory health insurance does not generally cover the costs of implants, except in exceptional medical cases.

Frequently asked questions about dental implants

The total duration depends on the number of implants and your individual situation. After the initial consultation and diagnostics, the implant is placed and then heals for around three months in the lower jaw and four to six months in the upper jaw. This healing phase must be completed before the implant can be loaded. This is followed by the fabrication and insertion of the final prosthesis, which takes a further two to three weeks. In total, you should expect to wait around four to seven months.

No, you will not feel any pain during the implantation itself thanks to local anesthesia. The procedure is comparable to a tooth extraction. In the first few days afterwards you may experience:

  • Slight swelling in the treatment area
  • A feeling of pressure, similar to after a tooth extraction
  • Mild complaints that can be well controlled with painkillers

These symptoms usually subside within a few days. Many patients report that the treatment was less painful than they had feared.

  • Cool the affected area for the first 24 hours
  • Avoid physical exertion for a few days
  • Eat soft, not too hot food
  • Avoid alcohol and nicotine during the healing phase
  • Maintain oral hygiene carefully but thoroughly
  • Take prescribed medication as directed
  • Come to the agreed check-up appointments

Implants themselves cannot get cavities, but the surrounding gums and bone must remain healthy. Clean the implants as you would natural teeth:

  • Brush thoroughly twice a day
  • Clean interdental spaces with interdental brushes or dental floss
  • Regular professional implant cleaning in the practice
  • Attend check-up appointments

With good oral hygiene, you can avoid inflammation around the implant and ensure its longevity.

Austrian statutory health insurance generally does not cover the cost of implants, except in medically justified exceptional cases. Private health insurance companies often reimburse part of the costs – depending on your tariff. Submit a cost estimate to your insurance company before starting treatment. We will be happy to support you with all the necessary documents.

With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, implants last a very long time – often a lifetime. Studies show:

  • After 10 years, over 95% of the implants are still functional
  • After 20 years, the success rate is around 90%

Durability depends on factors such as oral hygiene, regular prophylaxis, smoking habits and general health. With good care, an implant is a long-term investment.

Titanium dental implants are the proven standard in implantology. Titanium is biocompatible, very stable and bonds reliably with the bone.

Even though we do not offer ceramic implants, I will be happy to explain the difference. Ceramic implants made of zirconium oxide are metal-free and therefore suitable for people with metal allergies. They are tooth-colored and particularly aesthetically pleasing, especially in the visible anterior region.

If the jawbone has deteriorated due to tooth loss or periodontitis, we can restore it by bone augmentation. If necessary, we use a sinus lift in the upper jaw, in which the floor of the maxillary sinus is raised. After a healing phase, there is then sufficient bone to securely anchor the implant. Today, modern techniques make bone augmentation easy to plan and successful.

Yes, in many cases immediate implant placement is possible. We insert a dental implant into the wound immediately after extraction. The advantages are

  • One less intervention
  • Shorter total treatment time
  • Better preservation of bones and gums

Whether immediate implant placement is an option depends on the situation, for example whether there is inflammation or sufficient bone. We check this individually.

In navigated implantology, we plan the implantation three-dimensionally on the computer and produce a precisely fitting drilling template. This template guides our instruments precisely to the predetermined position during the procedure.

Advantages:

  • Millimeter-precise placement of the implants
  • Protection of nerves and other anatomical structures
  • Shorter treatment time
  • Greater safety and predictability
